Strange frogspawn behaviour

So we have a branched frogspawn in our tank, it has four branches and up till recently all were equally extended. But in the past fortnight only the front 2 heads extend fully, the back left only partially and the back right not at all. We've tried moving it around the tank, different flow and lighting etc but no change. And yesterday the closed up head seemed to extrude it's stomach! At least the mouth opened really wide and something brownish came out then back in again!!! Any thoughts?? Sg 1.025 ph 8.0 ca 450 dkh 11.5 no3 5 po4 0.03 all stable at these values for several weeks.

hmmm. I really hope its not getting rid of it's Zooxanthellae. What you mentioned, sounds a bit like it.

If that is the case, it may be downhill from here on out. I hate to say it, but these corals are very sensitive to changes in temp and parameters. They especially hate the higher temps and ALK changes.

In my opinions, your dkh/alk is too high for this coral. I run mine around 9 and have plenty of Frogs, Octos and Hammers. (Same family).

Good luck, try not moving around too much. Place it where you think it should go and leave it there for a while. Moving it every few days makes things worse.

Remember... "In this hobby, nothing good happens fast."

I don't have much to add, but my alk is 12 and I have no problem with euphyllia.

I definitely wouldn't move any coral around more often than once every two weeks, usually not more than once a month.

Sounds like it was pooping. Coral that consumes allot of food like the larger stony types, can be seen expelling waste. Stressed coral can do this just the same, so I would be sure everything is in line. GL
