Stringy Feces, Less Active Clown in Hypo

Fish Mother
On June 24th I purchased two small true ocellaris clowns, one larger than the other for pairing and a small yellow goby. I put all three in a 10g quarantine tank. They ate reasonably well. Within 3 days Ich was present on the clowns. I treated with paraguard for three days. When there was no improvement I stopped treatment, changed carbon, waited 24 hours and started decreasing salinity to 1.009 for ich treatment. Within a few days the ich improved tremendously but the large clown started behaving sickly. He didn't eat for 3 days. By the third day he was breathing hard and laying on his side. I did a 50% water change even though all parameters were fine. The next day he was back to normal. No fish show any signs of ich. I have been feeding mysis soaked with selcon and a mixture of clams and shrimp. Since then I have also done a 20% and (another 50% water change today). My SG has been kept exactly at 1.009. Fish were symptom free for about two weeks and eating well. Fast forward to today. Small clown is not as active as usual and is swimming a little tilted from the horizontal. He has not eaten. He had a white string of poop about an inch long. The other fish are fine. I did a 50% water change and changed the carbon filter. I cannot treat with any meds until hyposalinty is complete. What could be the problem? After all this time surly he doesn't have a parasite. Where would he have gotten it. They have been in the Q tank almost 3 weeks.

I think stringy poop is generally a sign of parasitic infection. In my case, when my Osc clowns started showing stringy poop they also had signs of Brooklynella, which Hypo won't fix. Read up on brooklynella, and if you decide they may have it go to Wal-Mart and get yourself some AP Pro QuICK Cure. It's got Formalin (37% formaldehyde) and Malachite Green.

It worked for me on the one clown that made it to QT before passing. He's still in QT, but no more symptoms.

The clown is eating again and swimming normally. Maybe it was the water change or the carbon filter change or both. I will keep a look out for anymore stringy feces but he is 100% better. He has no signs of Brook so far (fingers crossed). I may, when the hypo period is over, treat with prazipro or paraguard or what you suggested depending on how the next 3 weeks go.
