Strong odor from red sea coral pro (salt)

So I opened a brand new 200 gallon bag of red sea coral pro (salt) and mixed some into a 40 gallon container. I noticed the new saltwater had a strong odor almost like chlorine but not quit chlorine. The remaining salt in the bag also had the same strong odor. It might be the same smell on large bags of salt but magnified if any of this makes sense.
Wondering if anyone has experienced this and whether or not its safe to use this bag of salt?

Thanks for the input.

I recently bought a 200g RSCP salt also. I do notice some smell, but it seems to be the same smell as other salt mixes that I’ve used. Salt and chlorine are the same elements, so I’d think that could explain the chlorine type odor. I’ve been using it for several months now with no problems.

Either sodium or chloride would kill you right quickly but without sodium chloride you would die an agonizing death.

The smell has dissipated in the mixed water.
