strontium how many dose and check for it

I give a lot of credit to folks that check things like strontium, magnesium, iodine, malgorium, etc... Personally, I can't be bothered. Too many test kits, too many additives, and too much time. Keeping a 1983 Benz in tip-top shape dips heavily into hobby time.

ditto -- do not check for strontium or other trace elements. Just do 10% biweekly water changes. We check all the normal stuff like amm, ph, sg, trites and trates but additionally we check mag, and calcium on that biweekly schedule.

Takes very little time once all parameters are within the right levels. Daily doses are done when we top-off.

was just curious on how many people think its a nescessity. i never have either. i dose magnesium here and there when i test for it. along with calcium and alkilinity.

I have never tested or dosed strontium or magnesium in my tank. I think most do not test for them unless they have reason to believe a parameter is out of specs.

I used to check for strontium, iodine, phospate, but after never seeing anything but nominal levels I stopped. Now I just do weekly 10% changes and add KW to deal with Alk/Ca, and use a two-part if those need to be adjusted. Under normal conditions that should be enough to deal with your trace elements.
