shrug when in doubt hit the ER.....you might be alergic or something... i've seen some nasty wounds and such from people on here.... im not even sure what kinda nem that is....or its just closed up....

my RBTA it tried to get me a few times never felt more then just a tingle

That appears to be a club foot anemone. Is it from the Gulf of Mexico? If it is a club foot, they have a reputation for nice painful stings that tend to swell up.

Meat tenderizer supposedly breaks down the toxin. But, I would check with a doctor first.

Well it still hurts bad. Not much swelling but deep pain. I live in a small town so I doubt is they would even know what to do. I wonder what they would do anyway???

As far as where it came from who knows. I was on some live rock 6 or so years ago. It was just a speck now it smaller than a baseball. I will never do that again. I have been putting ice on it. Helps a little till I take it off.

I would get it checked out, just saw something the other day where a guy got a horrible blood infection somehow in his aquarium, its a good idea to go to the er

if you haven't gone to the er take some benadryll or other allergy med designed as a hystemine blocker but you should see a dr !!!!
soaking in hot(not boiling) water should deactivate the venom

I did not go to the ER. It was just bad pain and some blisters. The pain was unreal. My whole hand , wrist, forearm hurt. No other symptoms. I soaked my hand in vingar and that helped the pain. Then I made a paste of bakingsoda and put that on. It took over night and the pain went away. Now I am treating the blisters with antibotics cream. Its getting better. Man I will not do that again!!!!!!!!!!!

Soak it in vinegar then rinse the area thouroughly. Treating with triple bac may also help. If it gets better you're okay, if it feels like it gets worse after 24 hours definitely go to the er

I am on my way to recovery! Close call for sure.

In the future, Verde Valley isn't terribly far from a few hospitals in N. Phoenix. Might not be a bad idea to come into town to get looked at :)

Incidentally, +1 on meat tenderizer. I got stung on the nipple by a bee last summer (don't ask) and the only thing that helped was when my aunt put meat tenderizer on. That was a funny thing for my wife to witness, apparently -- she couldn't stop laughing :inlove:

we use vinegar when our sailing students get stung by jellies we would also always use meat tenderizer when we didnt have vinegar but supposedly its not a "generally accepted treatment" so we are really only supposed to use vinegar now because of liability issues with allergies and what not. Both would work though to bring down any pain.

Ammonia takes away the sting from a jelly. I once heard a divemaster say, "Get stung and you'll find out who your true friends are. A good one will pee on your leg for you"

Not that you would do it at home, but at the beach you can use urine.

I was thinking the same thing, but I think that's for surface sting.

Victoria, since it's an ache, have you tried to put some ice on it?
