Stung by longspine urchin

Wasn't paying attention... got 3 spines in my middle finger. I read to soak it in hot water... any other suggestions?

If I'm not mistaken vinegar is also helpful. But the hot water should be hot-hot-hot. As hot as you can stand.

No vinegar in the house. I put it under pretty hot water for almost 30 minutes. Only 1 of the spines broke off in my finger. I think I got it out ok. I still have black marks where the spines went in, but I feel ok. The site still burns a little.

bet that hurt...wont pee dull the sting?

hot water will work good to open your pores/ wounds...now you need something to draw out what ever the nasty little bugger stuck in you..

I thought hot water was supposed to denature the protein in venom?

i got stuck by the common calfornia urchin and after a day in emence pain all that stopped the poison was to **** on my palm and wash it off it felt 100% better in 20 min

Hot water denatures the protein in Lionfish venom. I really think peeing on yourself is for jellies....but maybe urchins too haha
