(Interesting observation on a national problem)

Recently large demonstrations have taken place
across the country protesting the fact that Congress
is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.


Certain people are angry that
the US might protect its own
borders, might make it harder
to sneak into this country and,
once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand
the thinking behind these protests.
Let's say I break into your house.
Let's say that when you discover
me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, "I've made all
the beds and washed the
dishes and did the laundry
and swept the floors. I've
done all the things you don't
like to do. I'm hard-working
and honest (except for when I broke into your house) .

According to the protesters :

You are Required to let me stay in your house
You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan
You are Required to Educate my kids
You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family

(my husband will do all of your yard work because
he is also hard-working and honest, except for that
breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out,
I will call my friends who will picket your
house carrying signs that proclaim my
RIGHT to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have
a nicer house than I do, and I'm just
trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working
and honest, person, except for well,
you know, I did break into your house.

And oh yeah, I get a free education, where you
have to pay your own way through college.(TEEHEE)

And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a
fraction of the cost of my keep, and
there is nothing you can do about it
without being accused of cold,
uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and
bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me. And don't forget to make sure your forms are in MY language - I need to understand them...

I am sure this thread will get closed. But what a GREAT way to look at the whole immigration dillema.

As much as I'd like to agree with this, its dumb...its funny how we pretty much did the same thing to Native Americans over a hundred years ago. Pushed them out of their land and gave them Reservations and now allow them to run their own casino. I GUESS HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF

I know immigration is a problem here in the U.S. but we must blame ourselves for being the wonderful capitalist we are for hiring cheaper labor and exploiting their labor. Will it ever stop?? NO Why because we like things made with the least amount of cost not caring who it effects until its too late.

Yes its unfair that they are illegally crossing over and even if they are honest hard working people. Blah blah blah they should come here the right way...easier said then done but luckily you were born in this wonderful country where you can be and do what you want... but for the many that want to cross over and have the freedom we do have, we cannot blame them for this is the LAND OF OPPURTUNITY and is the reason why we are such a great nation.

We cannot blame the people for wanting a better life. Im sure if you were in their shoe, you would do the same thing for you and your family if waiting to come to this country was nearly impossible. Just to be able to provide them the best possible life.

When I hear protests, it ensures that this is still America and we all have the right to speak up whether we agree or disagree. We should strive.

So we may have to learn their language, but from business stand point, if you cant beat em then join em because they have money right to spend so why not please everyone. If you travel outside of the U.S. many european countries speak countless of different languages and have "forms" in other languages also...so its only a matter of time till we must comply with everyone.

I guess this debate can go on forever but as an immigration lawyer, I joined this because I believe everyone should be allowed to have rights whether they were here llegally or not. Yes there are exceptions but for the most part...many people come here today for better opportunity just like our great great ancestors did (legally or illegally) so why should we deny them of that right??
