I have never posted in this forum before and have had my share of parasitic and antibiotic in quarantine hospital tanks. Just wanted to post this so it might be helpful to others. I have a tank downstream off my large reef tank attached to the sump. In my sump I run a return pump and drain for this separate tank attached to main system. Few days ago I noticed what appeared to be fin and tail rot and scale blotches on baby fish I was raising. It looked clearly bacterial.
I removed most of the rock. Siphoned up all detritus and uneaten food. Wiped tank down. Almost sterile looking. Added pvc pipes. Fish looked better but not right yet. Not as active as once. Closed my valve off to main system. Added few peices of live rock. Added asome flow and bubbles via sponge filter. And here's the deal. I made combo of kanamycin and nurofurizone medication. Changing water every 8 to 10 hrs of about a third. And every 24 hrs changing 90 per and re applying antibiotics with all changes. Kannflex by seachem and furan 2. Almost at full dose of kana and three qtr dose furan. 24 hours later fish looked so much better!!!!!!!!! Active. Eating.
