Suction Cups

Hello everyone out there in MTRC land :D

Based on some input from others, and some recent tank moves, we (the Board) thought it would be a good idea to get some heavy duty suction cups to help with moving bigger tanks. They aren't all that cheap, even if you rent them. We decided to purchase a set of 6 of them for use by MTRC members when folks need them. This is another benefit of membership!

They are on order right now and should be here in a few days. Here is how things will work:

1) MTRC members can "rent" them for 1-week for free. It is the responsibility of the person renting them to pick them up and return them from the Board member who has them at that time (that will probably be Brandon -- the Club Secretary, but it could be others).
2) After the first week the rental is $10/week thereafter. That means if you are late returning them, there will be a fee. This is to encourage prompt returning of the suction cups in case others need to use them, but also if you need them for more than 1 week it is still a lot cheaper than renting elsewhere. I think the cost runs ~$15 for each suction cup if you rent elsewhere, and that is just for a few days.

Norman, let us know when they get in, and please post pics if you have any :)

One would think, since I have a big tank move coming up, that this was my idea... I assure you it was not. I also assure you that I didn't turn the idea down...

Anyone that was here when we rented a set of these and moved the 270 into our place can attest to the handiness of these. It made the whole process safer (for us and the tank) and less back breaking.

I also know from renting them before that the cost was approximately 1/4 of the total price to buy them... so if club members use them just 4-5 times they'll have paid for themselves in out-of-pocket expenses. I don't see this being a problem at all with the number of tanks that change hands in the club.

Also if some one need them carried to Nashville or back I drive up everyday and can help with that. Also for a reminder the club also has the light meter too I have it now but I can give it to either one of the officers I think we should have the same checkout process for that.

I think this is a great thing for the club to have! I am glad to see the club officers useing the funds for the good of everyone in the club. The 6 guys moving my tank in a few months ago would have loved useing them. I also think mailing them between folks could be a cheaper way of getting them around if the person lives far from Norman or whoever is the holder of the cups as gas is so high these days! Naturally, at the borrowers dime.

I assume, for liability purposes, we need to formally state that MTRC does not endorse their use for climbing commercial structures.

The Suction cups are in! They are at my house in murfreesboro right now and when you need them just let me know. There is a set of 6 suction cups ready to loan out to MTRC club members.

Or when you need them, let me know. ;) :D

There is a list that has begun, so you can PM or email me if you'd like to reserve them sometime.
