Sump, Canister Filter, Protein Skimmer

Hi everyone. I'm brand new to RF posting my first of many questions.

I have a 55 gal salt and I am running 2 Eheim canister filters and an AquaC Remora Pro protein skimmer. I have read several posts indicating sumps trump all. I will eventually move to a sump. In the mean time should I only run the skimmer or should I keep running the canisters as well for now? When I get the sump is there any need to continue running the canisters? Lastly, what size sump is recommended for a 55gal display tank?

I personally would just go with the skimmer. But I do not see any harm in running the canister filters as long as you are doing the cleaning and maintainance on them.

As far as sump size is concerned, the largest sump you can fit under your stand or wherever you are going to put it. Good luck
