Sump Ideas....

Everyone- I am looking for some sump ideas. I want to replace my sump or just redo the acrylic baffles in mine to add some other areas. I currently have a 40 breeder as a sump. I really don't want to go any larger (and don't have the room).

I want to add:

- add a small place where I can keep frags
- have the room to use filter socks

Any suggestions? My current setup is: water from tank into the skimmer, fuge and then the return. I think the water through my sump is too fast and I'm not getting the results that I should out of it.

Your never happy;) I think you would have a hard time lighting a frag tank under a stand without causing some real heat issues. I have never used a filter sock, they seem like a lot of work and potential problems (I think Chad put about a hundred gallons on his garage floor with one) for little gain.

Why don't you try running without macro for a couple months? I am willing to bet you will see a positive difference.

i like the filter socks alot. if you plan it properly and change them out atleast weekly you'll be okay. i would get lazy our forget until it was to late. with a 40 gallon being so short you would be hard pressed to get a filter sock to work right. as far as to much flow just crank down on the return pump. i do like a sump that has the return between the fuge and skimmer alittle better.

:) LOL- I am happy! I just live in a "What - If World". I wonder if I did this, what would happen? :)

I think that may be the ticket. Just change the way my sump is laid out. I should probably do, skimmer on the left, fuge on the right and return in the center.
