I'm sure there are plenty of us who would like to help. We'll need to know how your sump is currently set up. whether or not it is a refugium. Size of your tank and sump, style of skimmer if your using one......etc. There are plenty of knowledgeable people in this reef group who will be able to get you on the right track.

hello sir and all my sump is currently a 40 gl breeder , the dual over flo with round floss pads returns in a small wet that is placed in the 40 gl breeder. then the drip plate with filter floss over another layer of floss and (I KNOW) a few bioballs the in the return area there is 2'' of reefmud and 2'' of sand with live rock rubble.
as the year has went on sediment a probably dietrius has built up in this area. and with the addition of light in the fuge cyno and hair algee have taken off in this area .in the same area there are 2 2' holes for the water to drain into the 40gl breeder , where my coralife 220 supper skimmer is located then a small wall of rock rubble some cheto and another small wall or rubble followed by the return pump.

It is a 220 gl tank any other info needed pls let me know and thanks for the help.

definitly trying i work usually all day on Saturdays and the on the occasions that im off i have no one to contact or talk with, trying to get up some pics its a little tying to me whats the easiest way? the way i have done it in the past is a pain.

These a just merely suggestions. If I had this set up I would take out the wet dry setup/ remove all the filter floss/ bio balls slowly, and use filter socks. It will make maintence alot quicker, and will save you $$ from buying filter floss b/c you can wash and rewash the filter socks. Plus if you do this weekly your getting rid of the detrius collected before it starts to break down and cause other problems. Most people change filter floss once a month or so, others who have socks switch them out every other day or so which leads to cleaner water. Plus removing the the wet dry will free up some more room for something else.
When you do water changes take a syphon hose and suck up what detrius there is in the sump.
Where you have hair algae growing and cyano, you could manually remove the hair algae and syphon as much cyano as you can, and put a small power head in there to increase the flow in that part of the sump. Put some more crabs or snails down there until you get it under control.
Sounds like you have a pretty nice setup. I also sent you a link in a PM to help you out if you havent check out his site before. Let us know how things go and what you decide to do.

thanks for the suggestion im off tomorrow and will be trying to get some control on it then any where in town sell those socks u are talking about that i could use in my application .

I am not sure if Coral Reef has any or not, but I know that Petware House has a few of them..Not sure about the other shops, I don't go to the others much.

I think most will agree that is just easier to have a photo bucket account, which is free, and load your pics on there. You then can post a link from there to your pics to share with others.
