Sump question

I have had my 150g tank up and running for about 9 months and its doing ok lol.

My sump is a 55g. First compartment has a skimmer and then it goes thru the bubble trap and I have a large open area with a GFO reactor and carbon reactor and return pump. Is there any advantage in a refugium? I could put one in if its very desirable. There is lots of room

Yes, it will provide a breeding ground for pods and if you keep macroalgae in it it will help export nutrients.
