What is the water level you run at for the skimmer? I have the octopus NW150. From what I read, 9" seems to be the optimum level. I would like to run it a little higher, about 12-13". I don't have any clearance so I can't prop the skimmer higher. Anyone have their skimmer water level higher than 9"? How well does it work? Thanx.

If it's too low, it will cause a vortex. 12-13" would work awesome for me but I don't know if it will cause too much performance degradation. It's not very easy to experiment with different water level so if someone has some experience with it, I would greatly appreciate the input.

You could use a piece of acrylic and clamp it on top of the baffel in your skimmer section. You could slide it up to experiment with different levels. When you find a setting that works, glue it on.
