Sump?

Long story short I used to be somewhat active on this site back when I had a 40 breeder and a 24 nano however June of 2013 I was hit with some unfortunate events... 14 feet of water in my house and filled my basement floor to ceiling and halfway up my first floor. Everything in both tanks died.

A year and so later we are close to getting things back to normal. My goal is a 20gallon long display however I was contemplating a 40 breeder as my sump. Reason being is my brother in law has a 75 gallon tank with a 40 sump that he's looking to give me along with skimmer (Octopus DNWB-200).

1. Would a sump double the size of the display cause an issue? I've never used a sump before so total newb.
2. The skimmer is rater for up to 300 gallons. My bioload would be SPS/Softies and 3-4 fish.

Thanks in advance-
Steve

Steve, nice to see you on again. ☺ I agree; nothing wrong with a bigger sump than display. Is all about total volume. I have some stuff I could pif to you if you're interested.
