I know suncorals are non photsynthic but can they stay totally healthy with no light at all . I want to hang mine in a cave I have in my rockwork . In this location it will receive no light at all . If feed on a regular schedual will it be ok having no light . Thanks in advance

I think you would be OK with no light on the Sun, but keep in mind that every single polyp needs to be individually fed (at least that's how I feed mine). So, you will need easy access to it. One other thing to think about; if there is no light on the coral, it will be difficult to observe its beauty and that's why we keep such a thing in the first place, right?

I think it would be kool, I have had a suncoral the size of a large softball for over a year, i never feed each head individually but i feed it once a week with a cube or two of mysis and it has done great, no bare spots or algae growing on it. the most difficult part will be feeding it in the cave though upside down.

Thanks all for the replies . It is visable in the cave,it gets light just not direct. Feeding all of the heads is an issue, the ones in the rear are hard to get to .I squirt mysis towards them with the powerheads off when they are open ,and hope they grab some .

They need no light at all, they'll do fine there.

In terms of feeding every polyp, they'll grow and reproduce more rapidly if you do. It's not 100% necesary to feed every one, but if there's an area on the colony that consistantly isn't fed that section will likely die off/recede.
