i had them till they grew to many heads to feed it got to be a TASK TO FEED IT.if you have a well stocked tank with a dsb and fuge you might be able to drop the feedings down but they dont come out during the day then.i love the way they look but i dont like how they hide unless there is food in the tank.
IMO the trick to feeding them twice a week is feeding heavily. I feed them a small amount, wait 10-15 min., feed again...do this 3-4 times. Less waste in the tank and usually they get several pieces for each head. That is part of why I like the bottle method--using a syringe to blow the water inside of the bottle stirs up the food on the bottom and they catch more.
sqwat-- I have 4 colonies of established suncorals for over 2 years and babies popping up all over. After 2-3 months of consistent feedings mine started opening 75% of the time. Light doesn't seem to make one bit of difference to them anymore. Consistency is the key I believe. IDK maybe I'm just lucky
in mine it did not all corals are from same depth or act the same.i love the sun coral but i dont like feeding my tank to see just one coral but to each his own.allot of time they dont open cause they arent hungry also.ok everyone go ahead and bash me and say im wrong.lol
Yeah, I got tired of feeding my sun coral. I got rid of it a few years back. I picked up a Dendro about 7 months ago. I feed it 1-2 krill a week and he is as happy as can be. Same look as the Sun coral, but easier to keep IMO
