I received a piece of sun coral nine days ago.On the second day it opened and it feed on mysis.I have not been able to get it to open an feed again. I have tried the bottle method also have placed it in a bowl. All water parameters are good an all other LPS are feeding.I've tried mysis & silverside pieces. No tissue degeneration . ANY SUGGESTIONS

Try using a few drops of selcon or zoecon. That always makes mine open right up.

Also, if you have PE mysis or any meaty frozen food, thaw some with some selcon or zoecon and pour the drippings from it in the tank.

Cyclopeez or selcon can entice the sun coral to open up. You mentioned taking it out and putting it in a bowl.....if you are exposing it to air, you could be stressing it out further.

Try turning off your pumps or placing a soda bottle over it and feeding it.

Also maybe just give it some time. Usually they will open up at night. Wait until nighttime and it might open up realyl big and then feeding them.

I haven't exposed it to air yet.I place it in the bowl while still in the tank then remove it. I will try cyclpeeze .I hope the freeze dried variety will work. Thanks for suggestions.

I would definitely leave it in the tank to feed.

Try putting the bowl over it INSIDE the tank to feed it. Much less stress on the coral and has always worked for me. Also. you can let it feed for literally hours inside the bowl without having to worry about temp issues like when you have it outside the tank.

That is a pretty sun coral colony sufunk. Nodak maybe get like some small tupperware container, cut a hole at the top, and sit it on the suncoral like in sufunks picture. Makes it easy to feed and you don't have to worry about shutting the pump off or your fish/shrimp stealing any food.

Post some pics if you can too

also, make sure the sun coral is in an area with good flow. I bought one a few months ago and read that it should be placed in a a cave.

After further research I learned that it does not need light however light will not hurt it in any way. It does like flow though and once I relocated it the polyps began to open.
