sun coral !

I got rid of mine, they are a PITA. They tend to only open at night, and this is when you must feed them and you need to feed every polyp almost daily. I've also found that when you look away, your other livestock will steal the food from them. This results in having to either take it out of the tank to feed it in a bowl or small tank, or cut the top of a soda bottle and put it over to keep other LS away. I did this for a almost a year, and found I could keep it alive, but my nitrates shot up through the roof. I finally gave it away.

Some people keep them, but be prepared.... a dedicated non-photosynthetic tank may be a better way to go.

You can train a sun coral to eat at anytime. Use cyclopeze to entice the sun to open up. I feed mine mysis shrimp every other day. Use a syringe and feed each individual polyp. Its easier for me to remove the sun from my tank place it in a small bowl of water from my tank and just drop a piece of mysis on each head. Ligh is not important to the sun and they like flow.
