I have a rock with about 12 Sun Polyps on it and I've noticed a few around the top area are turning white and looks like its skeleton is showing. What could be causing this and why is it only on a few of them?

I got 2x250mh and its about half way to the top.I've noticed them come out while the lights are on also so I don't think its the lights.I'll check my parameters in a bit.

They are starving. You need to feed them more and feed them every day. I used to feed mine a mixture of brine, mysis, and cyclopeeze.

feed them everyday?

i have one that im nursing and it eats whenever i feed it, so i know its hungry.

but im trying to get it on a regular feeding schedule and dont want it to get used to getting fed every night. I feed it every other night, almost a whole cube of myssis.

I put mine in my refugium when it was doing the same thing and now it looks great. I think it is chowing the live mysis in my fuge.

I was feeding twice a week but then got busy at work and missed it.I'll try that fuge idea and see how it works.

Thanks everyone for your help.

i feed minds everyday..i got 2 new polyps on it with in two weeks after buying them..feed them..

I just got done feeding them but a few of them wouldn't extend out so I'll have to get them tomorrow.

If you're feeding frozen foods take some of that thawed out juice and squirt some onto them they should start to open up.

If you have a small tank then take the coral out before doing this though... as you dont want to dirty up your water too much

I am atempting a rescue ATM, got a sun coral a few hours ago thats 50% white, had a spot of fungus aswell, and it didn't extend at all in a bag full of cyclopeze, I'll try mysis shrimp in a few hours, any other thoughts?
