Sunlight Tek Hood or Aquactinics...

I'm looking for opinions from people who have used either one of or both of these products. The tank I am using it on is going to be a SPS dominated tank.

Between the 2 choices you selected, the SLS Tek would give you more lighting, 8 bulbs vs 5 bulbs. Although the cooling on the Aquactinics gives it a little more par, not more than 8 bulbs though. If you want the most par, get the 7 bulb Aquactinics Constellation.

The last link didn't work properly. It was supposed to link to the 7 bulb Aquactinics Constellation fixture.

Someone mentioned I should use Ice Cap ballasts and get the Solar Flare fixture since it comes with Ice Cap's. Its an extra $200 with one less bulb.

The 7 bulb Aquactinics will probably run equal or more than the 8 bulb Tek because of active cooling over the bulbs as compared to passive cooling. I heard the Ice Cap ballasts overdrives the bulbs so that they run even hotter (extremely hot) and shortens the life of the bulbs by half, so you'll get stronger lighting, but need to replace twice as often as a result.

I've seen some with the Tek, run without the acrylic shield and have a fan blowing across the bulbs and this will increase your par on them.
