Sunpower for a 90g SPS

I want to change my MH for T5's and I was wondering if a 6 bulbs 48" Sunpower will be enough to keep SPS on my sand bed?
I have an standard 90G tank 48x18x24 and a minimalist aquascape. Thanks!

Yes it will. Set the fans to 9v and you should have plenty of light for whatever you want.

I would run 4 ATI Blue Plus, 1 ATI Purple Plus and 1 GE 6500k. All those are VERY high PAR bulbs for you.

Acclimate your corals though. It will be quite the change for them.

Perfect! Thanks! Do you know what's the difference between the Sunpower and the Powermodule? I'd rather invest the 400$(of difference) in a profilux :D
I'd also like to get a 20k look.
Thanks again!

Go with the Sunpower. I own both and would love to have the extra money I spent on my Powermodule to spend on other reef goodies.

It's a $200 difference, not $400.

If aesthetics are of a concern, get the PM. It's a very nice looking unit. The SP is nice too, but it looks like bent sheet metal

As a semi-noob, I was just cruising threads and found this. Not trying to hijack, but as far as I know, a four foot bulb would be 54 watt, so you would only have slightly over 3 watts per gallon? Now I KNOW that the "Watt per Gallon" rule is very basic, and often not very accurate, but it still seems strange to me. Not that I doubt you guys obviously, just tryin to understand what the deal is.

Oupss you're right, I checked the dimmable Powermodule :deadhorse:
I don't think the powermodule is worth the 200$ plus.. I pretty much like both... So I'll stick with the Sunpower.

That's what I'll do! :) Thanks everyone for the replies!

It is never accurate these days. It "might" work for some Power Compacts and Metal Halide but throw that rule out the window. Don't leave it on the window sill, chuck it out! It is rubbish and doesn't apply anymore.

It is all about PAR and PUR. Although PUR readings are really hard to come by and extremely rare.

That ATI Sunpower will drop over 250 PAR on the sandbed. That is enough to keep whatever you want.

For 20k I would try 4 ATI Blue Plus and 2 ATI Purple Plus. Grab an extra Blue Plus to play with.
