In the pic is a baby Gonipora( on the right). It's body is about the size of a pencil eraser. On the left is a bright spot. That bright spot is a 3 polyp Gonipora. I do not know where it came from , it just appeared the other day when I moved the baby Gonipora into the plastic cup. Upon closer inspection with a magnifying glass I can make out three polyps of this even smaller sibling.
Has anyone ever had this happen to them and if so did it grow?

I had a bigger Gonipora that shot out three the size of ur big one. They all survived. Just make sure they don't fall between the rocks, u wanna put them where the crabs and the current won't knock them down. Once u lose them in the rocks its hell. LFS told me that it doesn't happen to offten in captivity. Maybe some one can give u the reasons why. Congrats!!!

The three polyp goni probably came off of the other baby. They are often attached to each other when they are still on the mother colony. Sometimes when one Goniophyte comes off of the mother colony, the other comes off with it, but remains attached to it's sibling. Unfortunately, I think they are both very premature.

Here is my preemie:

Here it is now after 1 year 5 months:

There can be quite a few obstacles to overcome when raising baby Goniopora.
I've kept a photo journal of this particular one here:

This has been happening alot lately. I wonder if it has something to do with this time of year or something? Spawning season or goni or something?
