Hello all!!
Ok so I have a new setup that I will later post my build process and what not but for now I will just describe it and then ask my stupid question
I upgraded from a 55 gallon with a weir and 20 gallon sump to a 150 gallon w/center overflow 48"x 30" the sump along with two container for fresh ro di water and saltwater mixing is located in the adjacent room. Im going to love not having to carry buckets anymore
Here is a quick list of equipment that I purchased from marine depot to get this tank going
spectrapure 5 stage 90 gpd
spectrapure float valve kit w/positive shutoff valve (not for ato)
reefkeeper elite (so far kinda disappointed PH probe will not calibrate and temp has to be calibrated every other day so I dont trust it)
8x54 t5 fixture (tek light)
2x tunze 6105
tunze multi controller
kalk reactor
Ok so too the point my question is this...I have live rock curring in the tank right now and after it cures I want to put the live rock from my 55 gallon in it however there is currently a constant WAR going on with just about every kind of algae there is ....okay so I exaggerate a little:rolleye1: there is red crap on my sand and on power heads and return fittings green hair on a powerhead, bubble algae on the rock, all this started when I upgraded my lighting and I could rid the entire problem by doing more water changes and lessing the lighting period oh and of coarse aiptasia that I kill with aiptasia x.
So should I try and get the corals off the rock and put them into the new tank and let the algae covered rock dry rot in the sun until total death has happened then cure it or should I just scrub what I can see off of the rock and go about it that way and hope for the best? Im so frustrated at this algae I want to put the rock in the microwave and hope that the algae can feel the burning sensation! :blown:
Anyways sorry I ramble so much!! This site is awesome and constantly reminds me how little I know about this hobby!! Thanks in advance for all the advice you guys have
