Switching tanks

Hey guys,

Friend my friend said that I can have his 45 gallon tank. I currently have a 29 gallon. I want to put my stuff in the 29 into the 45 gallon. It seems like all I would have to do is move everything from one tank to the other. To me this sounds not very hard. but my mom thinks it will be extremely difficult and not worth it to switch other to the bigger tank.

Could you post some of your opinions on how hard it would be to get a 45 gallon going out of a 29 gallon.

My equipment setup is a marineland emperor 280 HOB filter, two maxi-jet 1200 pwerheads. like 35 lbs of LR and 20 lbs of LS. 30 inch coralife T5HO with 10000k and arctinic. ( I know a 45 gallon is 36 inches but I was thinking i could just hang the light above the tank from my ceiling to light the tank until i got a new setup)

-Is my current equipment enough to maintain a 45 gallon?
-What else would i need to buy?
-advantages and disadvantages of a bigger tank?
-Would you Switch tanks like this?
-How hard would it be to do this switch?
any other things or opinions on this switch please post.

Thanks all!

any problem with switching tanks is it's a pain and detrius (especially with sand) will be your main concern which can cause nitrates to sky rocket.

To answer simply, yes, you can maintain a 45g tank with your existing equipment.
-But what are you keeping/trying to keep? The light may be the first thing to up-grade, maybe even get a second 2 bulb over the tank...I had 6x39w over my 29...
-Next, what is in your tank?
-Advantages all the way; larger system = more stable.
-Switching tanks is in the eye of the beholder.
-Finally, doing the move is about a days worth of work and if you take your time it is so worth it!
