I do like the design of the Vertex 180. It looks like it would work well. @ 8" in diameter with that long drying neck, it should work well. $300 seems like a good price. The pump is all I don't know about. If it's decent, the skimmer should be a good buy for the money. Foot print is kinda big so make sure it will fit in yur sump.

My mistake, I should have said the new Vertex skimmers, although on second look, their estimates are still a little too high, maybe divide by 2 as well.

i decided to go with a sea side aquatics as21.... thing is a beast... has 2 sicce psk 1000 and is rated for 300... now figuring out how to make it fit in my sump is going to be a big problem

well i got my phosphates tested and came back at 0.03
