Hello there i was trying to find post that tell if t-5's are better or worst than P/c i am currently running 2 250 watt 20k MH, 1 96 watt 50/50 and 1 96 watt 10k p/c, i was thinking about switching the p/c to t-5 but trying to find out what type of difference will there be if any.

T5's will definately be better then PC's as long as you are moving towards the SPS route or any other light loving route.

My old roomate has 2 250w hqi radiums and is only running 2 of his 4 t5's(w/ SLR reflectors) because if he runs the other two the MH seems to be outpowered by the T5s. Or at least he lost some of the shimmering effect of the MH.

When he ran the 175w MH you could barely tell the MH was on when all the T5's were on.

He's had very good results and most people will agree you can do SPS w/ T5s but not PC w/ SPS. Or at least you will be limited with the SPS you can run with PC.

I recently replaced 3x96W PCs with 4x39W HO T5s and I'm very happy with the T5s. For about half the wattage (156W vs 288W) I get about the same visible brightness, if not a little brighter, and the color balance is much better (the PCs made things look a bit washed out). And even though the wattage is lower, from what I've read the PAR should be much higher, especially deep in the tank due to the parabolic reflectors. I don't have a meter but I'm guessing that is the case because my SPS are doing a lot better. Extra bonus is that they run much cooler than the PCs becuase of the reduced wattage, so my chiller doesn't come on nearly as often.

I switched mine over to T-5 about a month ago and love them. I will never go back to pc or VHO's

Amen to that.
