clam advice
This is T Dersa and I think she's doin' okay, but there is a whitish tint on her. There is color on the edges and openings, everything else is brown. Please look her over and give advice. I got her 2 weeks ago. Under 330W VHO allday and 250MH for 4 hours about 14" down from the surface. Ca 400+, iodine good, still have to go back and check dkh.

How big is the clam? If it is less than about 3" or so, I'd maybe dose live phytoplankton for a while. Otherwise, I'd increase the photoperiod slowly--maybe one hour extra to start for a week, then another hour. Is the 250w halide blue or white---what color temperature?

In other words, IMLE, the clam looks like it isn't getting enough light to make enough food on its own.

She is about 5-6". The bulb is a coral life, 10k, bluish. I've got VHO light on her for 12 hours and 5 hrs of MH. There is also some xenia growing on her. It doesn't seem to bother her, but I was trying to figure out if I should scrape it off some time or just ignor it?

I have had deresas that looked like that right before they really bleached out. I agree with jazzyreef, slowly increase the time the MH is on 1 hour a week until you have it on for at least 8 hours just my opinion though

It looks a touch bleached, consistent with bleaching from lack of light, but likely a result of LFS/shipping etc. Lighting I think is sufficient given the species. It can take some time for clams to recover from bleaching - especially maximas and croceas. I would just monitor it for the time being, it should be fine.
