T. Maximas - will this work?

I've gone back & read most of the threads but I can't find one that addresses what I am thinking of doing. I have a couple of baby maximas (1") due to arrive today. I've learned that when this size they don't utilize zooxanthelle (sp?) as much as when older & they require supplemental feedings. I read about putting them in a container in the main tank. Using this method you remove the container to feed them separately (make sure they get the DTs).

My thought was to use my refugium to keep them until they grow larger (2-3"). The refugium is new & doesn't yet have a whole lot of stuff growing in it, just some LR & sand. My thought was to put them in there until they got big enough for the main tank. It would be very easy to spot feed them (I can adjust the flow through). My concern is about the light, it's a 2g refugium w/ 18w of PC. The clams would be about 6" away from the light.

Would this work?

I do have MH (175w on 38g w/ 96w actinic), but if they don't utilize photosynthesis I could feed them much easier in the refugium.

Thanks
