t5 clams

Do you guys think I could keep a squamosas or derasas clam under 4 54 watt HO T-5's on my sandbed? It would be approximently 19 inches from the water surface

if your tank is not large then go for a deresa.

just don't get a blue derasa, doubt you'll find one, not referring to a blue rim. keep a photo record, if it darkens build up the substrate to get it a few inches closer to the lights. on the reef derasa's at ~9"-11" drop their b. threads and move to a deeper depth, relying on their weight to secure them.
i've repeated this so many times on this forum - my was 3" now 11" squamosa of 4years is under 4x54w/ind. reflt. in a 18h tank/dsb, ~14"-15" h2O line to sand.

Why not a blue deresa?


I am probably gonna get a squasamosa/deresa and put it in the sand. And also how do I know that its a squasamosa/deresa?

i was told by Jullian Sprung that the all blue derasa's like the one pictured in his book (I.A.Q.R.G.), occur in shallower waters thus need higher light levels than the others but as i said i doubt you'll find one like that.
