t5 nova extreme reflector

i just got my t5 nova extreme fixture to go over my 30 or 40 gallon tank. (havent had time to get everything together yet, have my lighting and filtration, just waiting to see what tank i want) my question is, I have heard that if i dont have individual reflectors that its not putting out as much light as it could be. could i modify the fixure and put some individual reflectors on the bulbs? like the ones from icecap? I got the fixure for a really good deal and all it needs is some new bulbs. any input will be greatly apreciated.

Someone did it with a Finnex. If you were to try it, I would use the SLS instead of the Ice Caps. They aren't as good, but are smaller. You will need ~ 2" for each reflector. Measure it and see if they would fit.
