Tangs and Pygmy Angels and hyposalinity QT

Hello All,

I recently obtained a pair of Blue Tangs and a Flame Angel that have been placed in a small QT tank. After a few days, I did notice a few small white spots on one tang and the other rubbing periodically on the PVC eventhough it did not show any visible spots. I have read a variety of material on the hyposalinity treatment during QT, so I deciding to pursue this and fresh garlic supplements with feeding as an alternative to copper or other medications. Especially since I read that Flames may be sensitive to copper treatment. Over the last 2 days, I have gradually reduced the salinity of the tank down to 1.013, with the most recent adjustment performed this morning from 1.015 to 1.013. I was anticipating making the final adjustment to 1.011 - 1.010 tonight. I have a refractometer, so I suspect the reading are fairly accurate.

My understanding/expectation from the reading is that this should be maintained for 3 weeks, then slowly raising over the next two.

So my question and concern is this: : I had just received a comment from a LFS person that Blue Tangs can be more sensitive to hyposalinity treatment. Can anyone confirm this concern? All three fish are eating well and remaining active. Does anyone have any other experience or concerns about maintaining the Flame or Tangs for this duration of hyposalinity treatment?

As always, thanks for any input or past experiences.

you need to get to 1.09 specific gravity

or 14ppt on a refractometer for salinity.

also you will need to stay rigidly at this figure for 6 weeks.

be sure to measure your ph every day and buffer it up if necesary.
