Presently with 90gal bowfront reef tank with 7 chromis, 1 mandarin, 1 longnose hawkfish, 1 sunburst anthias, 1 firefish, 1 sixline wrasse and 1 kole tang. We think Kole Tang has some ich for a while now (other fish are not affected), but seems to be taken care of by fireshrimp. Kole Tang always getting cleaned by shrimp and chromis. 5 Days ago we introduced a 0.75in hippo tang which appeared very healthy, without ich. Yesterday- appeared to have sand all over it and was rubbing its body against the live rocks. Doing well even with ich, but last night was able to catch it and place in refuge to see if it was indeed ich. Gave it a fresh water dip from RO water for 7 min and placed it back into refuge. Looked sick this am and decided to aerate refuge more with portable air pump and fish looking better and swimming after 1 hour and even ate mysis and brine this am. I disconnected our refuge from main system also. Did my kole tang give the hippo tang ich-or did the hippo come with it from the store? What more can I do for the hippo tang than the FWD? Should I try some sort of garlic regimen? I will not put hippo tang back into main tank yet. If it was indeed my Kole Tang as the culprit-what can I do for it (and possible its other tank mates)? The other fish are impossible to catch and quarantine away from our main reef tank. Please help!
