Tank age and growth rate

It seems like the bigger my corals get the faster they grow. I suspect some combination of stability, acclimation and growth being a percent of existing coral mass. I am not a coral biologist. Those are just my speculations.

My tank just hit 1 year almost to the day, and i just got a GHA outbreak. nothing crazy but the timing had me thinking the same thing you are!

This seems to be the biggest driver of more established tanks having more growth. There's growth in absolute terms and growth in relative terms.

In general, the amount of new coral polyps and growth of the colony seems to be a relative percentage of the size of the colony, so the absolute amount of growth increases though the relative growth remains roughly the same.
