Hey All,

well i finally took the plunge at decided to become a homeowner. I brought an 11 year old house with a partially finished basement. I would like to put the tank in the basement and make it an in wall unit eventually. It is only a 50 gallon reef, but if i put it in the wall i would like to upgrade to a 75-90 gallon reef ready. I just worry about temperatures. The current owner says its stays pretty comfortable down theyre year round, just wanted to get some thoughts on the subject. Theyre will be plenty of room behind the tank as this will serve as storage, workroom.

thanks in advance,

Jeff

Sounds very similar to TA (Tony's) setup. Everything is behind the wall in a utility room. With the tank being in a finished basement.

Should be fine - I have had my 150G in the basement for a couple years now and no problems. It also helps to keep some of the mess hidden away on the unfinished side of the basement. If the basement has no heating, it can get chilly so be sure you have a decent heater.

Actually, by looking at your user name, i think i am buying your parents house, in Clifton Park. LOL. They mentioned they had a son that was into saltwater Aquariums as well. so im sure you know what the basement looks like. Yes, i have two 150watt heaters, i think that should be enough.
