tank level questions

I leveled my tank (on carpet), but after I added the water, it is off about 3/8 to 1/4. The left side drains better than the other but is this because of the level being off? The right overflow has a longer run (90 elbow that goes to the skimmer chamber), while the left is straight down. Could this be the problem? I have drained this monster once into containers and I want to be sure before I drain it again.

Thanks

Make sure your not sitting on the tack strip, if so just move out some or shim the stand. Having it as level as possible will save you lots of headaches down the road.

Good Luck

You're wise to make sure the tank is level before getting it going. I think you're right about why one side drains faster than the other - one has less distance and less resistance (straight down).

I agree with radone about adding some shims to level it. Some people like to put a styrofoam pad between the tank and stand to help level it also.

1/4" is too much...relevel the tank.....foam is not the best way to level a tank...just helps with imperfections or wavy plywood for acrylic tanks only...
