tank move and unexpected hitchhiker

Well...the good news is that it seems like everything in my tank made it through the tank move. Man all these guys helped me for many hours past when they probably thought they'd be done!

Thanks a ton to Matt, Randy, Eddie, Donny, and Scott! You guys rock!

So I thought I would post a couple of pictures of the move and the hitchhiker we found (who had apparently been in my rock for about 8 years).

As a point of reference, that's a Kent salt bucket lid with the diameter of the outer rings being about 3-4 inches. So this guy was at least 2" across.

Then here's some pictures of my dinig room area, that was completely full of buckets.

Wow! That tank is going to look awesome! I can't wait to see pics after everything has settled and the lights are on it. Did you add more rock or just spread yours out? When are you hosting another meeting!! ;) ;)

Glad to hear everything is settling in!
As you can see, it was a tough evening of eating Mel and Brent's pizza and watching Eddie and Mel do the heavy-lifting!
I hope the chandelier has fewer bruises than our heads
I'm sure there's still some more plumbing and equipment installation to be done, but maybe we will get to see it again when everything's calmed down ;)

The next day, Brent and I set up the closed loop, so that's up and running. The calcium reactor is in the sump and we are turning it back on tonight. At the moment I only have two of the four lights on the tank but that will be remedied soon when Art has a chance to finish my canopy. I also moved a bit of the live rock out of the main tank and put it in the sump (I will probably move more).

I set up a copepod growing facility in the sump (could double as a refugium).

So things are moving along nicely.

It seems that Priscilla is very happy.

But as far as hosting a meeting...maybe in August? Geoff (a new member) is supposed to host July's meeting.

Thanks Chris! When are you guys making your big move?

We have a lot of people who are very very generous when it comes to helping out other reefers.

We are closing on the house on the 30th of this month. I will setup the new 120 on the 2nd and probably move fish and rock into it a couple of days later followed by corals a couple of days after that. I was going to setup the 120 and the 40 but am seriouly considering just the 120 to make my life, and the move, a little simpler:)
Just have to get rid of a few more things if I do that:(
Chris

Well I am SURE that there would be some "takers" if you decided to bring some of that extra stuff here! hah hah.

Just let us know if you need help.

If anybody would like to provide a home for the large hitch-hiker crab, I'd be happy to give him to you. :) He is living happily in the pump section of my sump at the moment.

What size sump did you go with Mel? Is that a standard size tank, 180? It looks great. I was just teasing about the meeting - I'm just excited to get a chance to see it.

Thanks for taking him Scott. Don't throw him in the toilet or yard ok? If it comes to that I will take him back and put him in my sump.

Patrick...it's a 240g tank. 8' x 2' x 2'. The sump is what's called a 100g long. It's 6' by 18" wide and 17" tall. I actually really love the sump. It's working out very well.

Okay. But can I put him in a box with one of my cats? He has a fair chance to emerge victorious from that one...
;)
