Tank move and upgrade

Hello everyone,

Here is my problem, I have a 40b set up (mostly LPS) in my living room. I recently purchased a 125 that is sitting out in my garage right now. I need to move the 40b and stand in to my son's room in order to put my 125 in the same place. How would you go about doing the move?

Thank you

John

1. suck water down to rock level into igloo ice chests
2. place coral rock work etc... into ice chest w/ water
3 continue to suck water down carefully to 1+ " above sand line.
4 Catch all moving livestock
5 Pull remaining water and sand out I like a big shop vac. Throw out do no reuse
6. Wipe tank down inside w/ vinager and rinse.
7. move empty tank
8 set up in reverse

Takes about 1.5 hours totally

I cant say that Ive ever moved my setup in less than 5 hours. But some are more skilled than I. I would give yourself a nice chunk of time to get this finished. Looks easy in typing but my last upgrade was very time consuming and nerve racking. But fun all the same...

I upgraded 2 years ago and it took several hours. Agree with coralsnaked's procedure. Although I did reuse most of the sand. I also added new sand which took a while to rinse and clear up once in the tank.

Thanks everyone. I am going to reuse the sand because the tank has only been set up for about 3 months. It only has about 6 weeks worth of fish poop from 3 small fish and a bunch of inverts.
