Tank Overhaul

After my clownfish died, I kinda just let my tank sit with occasional topoffs and just some snails in it. Well, today, I checked the param and everything is good. I haven't checked the salinity yet but...... the hydrometer is in water and vinegar. Anyways, besides from a piece of LR with alot of hair algae my tank has had a Coraline explosion, maybe just because Its been set up longer but anyways, Im ready for a tank Overhaul. I have been working and have some money I can spend, and the first thing I want to buy is a refractometer. Is this model http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=9957&N=2004+113761 the same as this http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merc...uct_Code=REFRACT-PA&Category_Code=Hydrometer.
I also think a HOB Skimmer might be nice as I don't have one right now. I dont have alot of space so a CSS is out of the question, I think I can fit 4" in width behind my tank so maybe a Bak-Pak or Remore. Any suggestions, thanks.

the remora skimmer is one of the best HOB types you can buy (other than a deltec) as far as i am concerned. I have one on my 40 cube and it has been working really well.

I already have one minijet 404, so should I buy another one and use one for mixing water or buy a maxijet 400 and use the minijet to mix water? Are the maxijets very big. Also, do remoras create alot of microbubbles and are they hard to calibrate(is that the right word) or get to where they make good skimmate?
