How long have you had your power heads? Why do some people not like them.

Thanks,Jeff:confused:

I jsut got it from a friend who was using it for around 6 months apparently the sweeping motion will lock up over time from calcium buildup but like anything it needs to be cleaned regularly and it shouldnt be a problem, this one has never been cleaned

What kind of rock is that? Do you think that drilling a more porous and/or fragile type of rock would be hard because they would break? How long does it take to drill say a 4 inch deep hole?

the suprising part is that once u break thru the rocks outer surface the inside has the consistency of not quite hardened clay it was very easy to drill thru , i believe this is florida LR and fiji some of my holes were over 4 inches and they took literally a minute to make

the only stumbling block i ran into when i was making them was that 3/4 pvc is 3/4 inside diameter so the 3/4 inch bit i bought was not large enuff so i needed to jsut twist the bit around to open the hole

some people use acrylic rod to do this i am sure it prob looks better and prob fits easier

this was such an amazingly simple project i went into it completly blind not knowing what the result would be and came out a full believer and hey if i screwed up its jsut rock i either cracked it and made 2 pieces or added a hole to stick a frag into

project cost
3/4 inch masonry bit $10
10ft of 3/4 inch pvc $10

total time spent drilling and building approx 2-3 hrs most of it finding the right piece to put on next and how to position it

I am going to build another one this week perhaps i should document it
