Hello everyone,
I have been reading your forum and yall seem very nice and even more knowledgable. I am still a lonf way away from making this happen due to money constraints. I do however have an idea for my tank design that I would like yall to review. This way I can get a quote for my custom tank and have something worth saving up for. So here is my idea. It will be a room divider tank, 3 sides will have starphire glass. It will measure 72L 24W 24H. I will be incorporating a sump and a closed loop or two. The unique(I think) idea I have is the overflow/drain setup. I want a 4 sided overflow box in the non-starphire short side of the tank. I will keep it off the exterior tank walls about 1.5-2.0 inches on all 4 sides. I think this will provide a very thin sheet of water for the drains. I want three 2inch drains at the bottom of the overflow box. Then I will wrap the overflow box on the three viewable sides with black acrylic. The closed loop intakes I will probably just hook with a very large strainer behind the overflow box. Then the returns will be branched off into 6-12 returns using loc-line and SCWDs or OM devises to randomize flow. I am also tossing the idea of adding a couple 3/4 inch bulkheads into the overflow box, then running flex pvc to a couple 3/4 inch bulkheads drilled into the top area of the overflow box. I will silicone the acrylic to the overflow, paying special attention around the holes. Then the bulkhead will go through both the glass and the acrylic which should also help hold the acrylic in place. A little leak here wouldnt be a big problem as far as I can tell anyway. Well sorry for the really long post, but I wanted to explain as much as possible, since I have nothing other than an idea and a few chicken scratch sketches. So wadda yall think???????? Thank you in advance for your time and input.
