Tank Raised vs. Wild Caught

In general, are you better off with a tank raised fish or a wild caught fish (assuming it takes well to captivity), mostly from a disease resistance standpoint?

Are wild caught fish subject to more things in the wild, thus more resistant?

Or are tank raised fish (being less likely to have parasites, etc) better off in your tank?

Tank Raised all the way! the livestock is more likely to quickly adapt to your tank and give you less problems, and it's one less thing being taken off of a reef somewhere

In the wild, these fish are exposed to far more pathogens than in our aquaria. However, densities of those pathogens are probably greater in aquaria. While perfectly healthy in the wild (and therefore, those associated pathogens aren't really an issue), those pathogens can be a problem in aquaria, where fish are more prone to stress from shipping, mistakes, etc. and end up with a lowered immunity and the diseases that can ensue. Tank raised fish have a 3 pronged advantage:
1. Relatively parasite free
2. raised in aquarium environment and therefore more accustomed to it and less likely to stress out from common aquarium problems
3. Ease pressures on wild stocks while providing us the beautiful fish we want

Conservation in anything is always the way to go if it's available and of equal cost. So if the fish you want is available in tank bred go for it!
