Tank Size for next build

Hi everyone,

I am new to the saltwater hobby. About a month ago I set up a 20 gallon reef tank, and I am ready for an upgrade.

I have an opportunity to pick from the following options:
1. A used 57 gallon Oceanic Illuminata Rimless tank (36"wide X 18" deep X 21" tall). This is not reef ready.
2. A used 75 gallon reef ready (48"wide X 18" deep X 21" tall) traditional set up

I know I would like to have a blue tang in my set up.

Although I love the rimless look, I am not sure if the 57 gallon tank would be too small. Plus, it would need to be drilled, and I have not done that before.

Thoughts?

I would go with the 75g out of those 2 choices. The 75 has more water volume and the extra foot of swimming space. However neither of those 2 are suitable for a Blue Tang.

That's a replacement not an upgrade. upgrade implies a completion or exhaustion of the prior.

semantics aside what's the budget? the 57 offers more customization since you get to choose the overflow or none. lighting and other gear will be slightly less expensive to obtain and run.

and I wouldn't suggest a blue in either also.

It is an upgrade. The 20 would be exhausted, or perhaps turned into a QT.

I don't have a budget in mind. I know the 75 will be more expensive, but I have a feeling I would run out of room with the 57 too soon.

I Started with a 20 gallon got tired of looking at a small tank. Then got a 56 gallons column got tire of looking at a small cube. Now I have 92 gallon tank with 24 gallon sump.
