Tank size for Regal Tang?

OK,

Perfectly happy for everyone's viewpoint here.

I currently have a 350Ltr corner tank with a 4ft diagonal with a 2.5'' Regal Tang in.

He's not staying there for long, a friend has a large (10ft) aquarium that he is planned to move to - I'm just growing him out a bit as he's still really skittish and would likely not do so well in a larger tank with bigger tank mates.

Anyway, I've had permission to get a tank upgrade but I need to fit it into the corner where the current tank is. My friend is also happy, if I have a big enough tank, to keep the Regal!

As such, I've been looking at getting an L-shaped tank custom built to fit the corner space available with a chamfered front to the corner. It will be 5 feet long on one side, and 5 feet long on the other. This will hold approximately 450 US Gallons but the Regal would need to obviously slow slightly as it swam full speed to bank round the corner...

What does everyone think?

I think you would be fine with that, if you want to be safe since this is going to be a custom job, you can always do 6' on both sides, or at least one.

i think what the op is asking is does 2 5 foot straight aways count as total of 10 feet or 5 feet each., i am leaning towards 10 feet total. fish can move very fast in and out of rock. so no they wouldn't have to slow down around corners

Thanks all for the replies,

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough, I did just want to know if the 2 x 5' lengths would be =~ 1 x 10' length and from the replies it seems that it will be so I'm now in discussions with the builder as to sump / weir choices etc and will move any further questions into the large tanks section of the site! :)

Thanks Again,
Adam
