Tank stand question

I have a 190 going on a stand that I build. So I put my 75 gal sump in and I now have a problem..... I can't fit the skimmer in or take the skimmer cup out. I can not through the other side where I have a door but I have to twist and turn it but that will be built in for equipment....I can modify the other side to put another door in but It will require me to cut out the 2 side supports. Not all the way up but almost.. Will I be safe doing that

Best to stop before you go any farther and redesign your stand. What will you do when you get your media reactors and find they don't fit either? Clearly you have not planned ahead for these eventualities. Chopping out bits and weakening the stand is not a very good option. You need to re-size the whole stand to meet all your needs in advance.

How about a little bit shorter tank for the sump?
What is the sump sitting on?
I would not cut the upper beam on the stand.
Please show us what the lower construction of the stand looks like.

The reactors and uv fit fine. I just didn't take no consideration that the top of the tank and the bottom of the front beam are one 6 inches apart..I can't really re-do the stand its finished and painted.the 75 gallon tank is 21 inches tall as well so tht does not help me either.

Any ideas

Without all the info it seams that you could get a sump that is shorter in hight,
Or drill the return through the wall and put the sump in your bedroom. Lol

I wish I could run a sump outside but the back wall is a exterior wall... I could d you a shorter sump but wanted a bigger sump. I need about 3 inches. But the door idea on the side would be easier to get not and out of the sump.

I'd replace that sump. It's a nice stand, don't mess it up.
Small glass tanks are cheap relative to most things in this hobby.

Best of luck with the rest of your build.

If you're feeling brave you could cut an opening into the top of the sump's front pane of glass, perhaps 1" deep by 8" long - whatever you need to get the skimmer cup out for regular weekly cleaning. Make sure that you can get the whole body of the skimmer (minus the cup, of course) out for semi-annual cleaning of the sump. Same for the reactors - make sure you can get everything out of the sump to do regular cleaning of everything.

Thanks for all the inputs, it will be a pain to get it into that stand and easy to work. So now I will try to get the closet next to the tank as a mini fish room. That was my back up plan.

you can cut in a side door by the pump side, reuse the wood panel and wrap it with some panel trim.

if your skimmer must go on the left side, slide your sump down to the right, you will then have clearance to get the cup out.
