Tank Temp

I finally got my system up n running for a few days now and i realized today that the water was warm. I dont have a lighting system yet and i dont have a heater installed. However my tank temp is 78 and my room temp is 70. I do have the tank covered with two maxi-jet 1200's running.

Should i be concerned or should i be happy lol

You could be both, but I would be more concerned. I think the reason your temp is at 78 is becuase your tank is covered and the two power heads are generating the heat. Depending on your lighting system you decide on getting, it could add a tremendous amount of heat. IMO, you should either uncover the top of your tank, or, you may want to invest in a chiller. But wait first and see what happens when you install your lights. It is also winter and your tank temp will most likely rise when it gets to spring and definetly summer.

Well we Have central air come the warmer months but i am a lil worried maybe ill open the one lid a lil bit for some air to get out and cool off. I think its the PH's as well. if it stays this temp that will be nice no need for a heater otherwise i got trouble lol

If you can get a fan blowing over the water, it would cool it considerably. Temperature fluctuation is just as important as temperature. A temp between 78-82 is fine, but it shouldn't fluctuate more than 3 degrees or so throughout the day. I would get your lights first and then deal with the problem.

You should really have the tank uncovered anyway. It will increase oxygenation, and help to keep you pH at a proper level.

You will always have evaporation. If you have a sump (which I think you should), this is where you'll see it. You're going to top off with fresh water regardless, in order to maintain your SG level.
