Tank temperature??

My reef tank temperature fluctuates during the day...at night right now it gets up to 81.5...the low it gets is about 78...this seems to be high..what does everyone else keep theirs at? Should I be concerned will some corals be more affected by the high temps than others? I don't know what else I can do to get the temp down..I just added a r2 moonlight but that shouldn't raise the temp really. Led's don't generate much heat right? I am a little concerned about this.

Somewhere etween 78 and 82 and stable is a good point to shoot for. With a chiller mine stays 80 - 81. Before I had a chiller my tank typically spanned about 4 degrees in the course of a day. Your tank sounds spot on and IMO you don't have anything to worry about:)

Mine stays around 78-80 Depending on how cool I keep my room temp at. If I keep it really cool like around 68, it stays around 75-76

I keep my deepwater at 72-73. My lagoon stays around 79-80. What are you keeping? Research where whatever your keeping comes from.

During the day, my room temperature gets about 85, and I had to add a fans to keep it cool(78-82). I think I am going to need to get a chiller. One of the DIY site, showed me how to use a small frig to help my tank cooler. It showed me how to run tubing from the tank into the frig and pumped back into the tank. Its the cheapest way. Has anyone tried this?

Also from what I have read most of the DIY chillers cost nearly as much as a storebought one and don't work as well. Never tried one though.

Thats for the most part true :), would just do better buying one when making the purchase and if you can afford it always oversize unless you want it to run more often and longer... and careful on the one you pick chillers are not all created equal dont let the higher model number on different brands fool ya.
