Update of my tanks, 90 gal became a Macro Tank with 3 bangai, 2 true perks, aptasia eating file fish. The desk tank is 3 small green pipe fish im growing to be big enough to survive in my mangrove tank, the mangrove/deep sand grassbed just got started, its tied into my 140. My plans are to have the mangrove roots sprout and grow roots into the deep sand bed of florid mangrove mud. and updates of my 140, little clowdy because i was digging around in the mud bed.

Sorry Scuba - my mistake. I confused Mike's reply with your post.

What kind of mangroves are those? Did you start them as propagules or sprouted pods? We are trying to sprout red mangrove props that we received from ReefCleaners back around 1-21-10. Today is the first day we noticed some little white root shoots. The tips were turning brown which didn't look good. I'm feeling a little more encouraged. I am really interested in watching yours.

My other question is how did you plumb the mangrove tank to your big tank?

jonny, yes they are fat awesome fish, the light is a fishneedit.com 65k 150w DE halide, the plumbing is just a bulkhead tied into a 90 elbow with a slip fitting from 1 inch to I think 1.25, I took a grinder and cut wiers into it then on the back side of the bulkhead its a 1 inch T with a cap on one side facing up with a hole drilled into it and the low side has a 1 inch nipple runing 1 inch ID hose to the sump, there is a ball valve in the hose so i can isolate the system if i want to. it works awesome, cost me 12 bucks to plumb it and overflow it, and its really quiet, I got the prop pods and they mush have been in brackish water. they have shriveled and most have gone soft, not alot of hope for those. I have a guy in florida sending me some that were for sure in salt water and he has dome them for 10 years. If the old ones sprout great if not I have a plan B. im planning on putting 40 nassarias,40 ceriths, a couple cucumbers, and some mud dwelling clams. and as soon as better seagrass comes into season im going to make it a full grass bed. also The guy i have had awesome luck with is bamboo-dynasty on Ebay. the guy is great, and he backs up everything he sells and know his stuff so far as mud and mangroves.

here are some pics, the hose going in is my temp return line till I can figure out a more elegant solution. shot from behing the bulkhead is top down, the cap is on the top.
