Finally I am getting some good growth and color is starting to come back. It is about time. Has been a rough couple months looking at brown and bleached sps that would not grow.

Very nice. What a difference 2 months of carbon makes! Will you continue to run it?

I thought I had been running the carbon for about 3 weeks but after checking my log it has really been closer to 2 weeks.

I have never ran carbon in any of my other tanks and I had great growth and color without it so I am not sure if I will continue to run it or not. I think I am seeing such postive results now because it is clearing up some of the left over levamisole. I plan on running it for at least a couple months and then I will decide.

I purchased some Carbon from BulkReefSupply with the club buy and plan on running it 24/7. Seems like several TOTM winners said they use carbon all the time but I don't have any links to back that up. Any reason not to run it constantly other than the expense and time involved?

the ever present, "nitrate factory" issue..

otherwise, i dont recall ever seeing a reason not to run it all the time..

How does the use of carbon become a nitrate factory? The assumption that detritus will collect in the carbon?

yip. just have to keep it clean...

and really idk that it does become a 'factory'... seems that all those little bugs can get in just as easily... i could see it having the same effect as a bioball...
