Ok, So i have ben running a FOWLR for about eight months and havent had any major issues but now I want to go with a reef setup. I have an eclipse 25 gallon tank and it has the crappy all-in-one hood with the carbon pad and bio-wheel. I am going to dump the entire hood and go with a coralife 2x65w PC with moonlights and a fluval 204 canister. Any other ideas of what I may need? Might go with a hang on refugium at some point but probably not right away. Help me out if I am totally going wrong direction here. thanks

sooo....nobdy here can hlp me with this? some people tll me to return the fluval and just mod a HOB filter into a fuge.....which one? Brand? Price? how to mod it? search feature is down currently so plz dont suggest that...thanks

i would say get a 10 gal tank and make that into a refugium. You can also buy a smaller one that hangs on the back or like you said, get a regular HOB filter and make it into a refugium, but i think a 10 gal under the tank would be best. Also with that light it should be ok, but if you want any cooler corals you should get MH. I'm picking up a 24" MH that 280 wattas for about $300 for my 20 gal i'm setting up.

I am not sure how to actually go about making a sup with a refugium. Not sure which pumps or skimmer i would need or even how to set it up. I do not want to drill my tank so gotta work around that one.

dude just get a whisper filter and a hang on skimmer, good choice for the lighting, your set....
